Turmeric makes a great beverage!

I promise you once you have this warm, delicious, and healthy beverage called Golden Milk, you will become hooked like me.

Curcumin (Curcuma longa - Haldi) is the key healing compound found in turmeric that makes the spice so healthy for us. It is a very powerful antioxidant, and holds a high place in Ayurvedic medicine as being a “cleanser of the body”.

Check out our Turmeric article to learn more about its amazing benefits.

You can digest Turmeric as a root or powder. In order to get the full anti-inflammatory effect, one needs to consume 500 to 1,000 milligrams of curcumin per day. One fresh teaspoon of ground turmeric has around 200 milligrams of curcumin. To make the curcumin in turmeric more bioavailable, it's important to use a little fat and black pepper. Black pepper has piperine, a compound found in studies that helps with the absorption of turmeric nutrients by 2000%.

Turmeric has often been combined with ginger, red pepper or black pepper in many traditional Indian preparations.
