Redwoods Oakland, California

Summer 2016 - The first place Dee and Noble Dre* Ali took their teenage son hiking! The Redwoods in Oakland give off a non-touristy feel. It is located in a residential neighborhood. A perfect place for adventure, meditation, hiking, jogging, picnicking, taking pictures, and bonding moments with the family. The nature here is such a magical feeling; there is something about being surrounded by trees that are so much larger than you. The experience really helps to put things in perspective.

Away From It All

Just minutes from downtown Oakland and a quick drive up the hill. Start at the Skyline Gate (ample, free parking) and there are a variety of trails from this point.

Trails For All!

At the Redwood Regional Park there are trails for all levels. Try the stream trail to start. The trail is really beautiful with a bit of an incline 1/2 mile in. Or they have a trail that goes directly UP for 2+ miles called West Ridge. This trail is great if you want to train hard.

Tucked Away in the Hills of Oakland

Is it Muir Woods? No, but it is a hidden gem. Smaller and less crowded and the trees are fresh from the 1850's when they were last cut.

Redwood Regional Park

This location has a lot of good hiking trails. You and easily spend the entire day there if you choose to.

Look Up!

Always remember to look up. You won’t regret it. Also be aware that dogs need to be on leash, there are bathrooms and picnic tables, no visitor center or cell reception, parking is pretty good, and there is a playground.
